Wrinkles Wrinkles are always premature. They appear too early no matter what your age is. As we age, the following changes happen in our skin:
Sebaceous glands become less active, producing less oil. As a result, skin becomes dryer and more fragile. Youthful color and glow are less noticeable because of decreased blood supply. Due to decreased metabolism levels, skin turnover is slower now. Old cell pile up (contributing to wrinkling) and the skin looses its fresh look. Wound healing takes longer. Collagen production start to slow down before you even know about it - in the early 20s. Later you see the result - the skin becomes thin and less supple. Increased collagen cross linking makes skin less pliable - wrinkles and sagging appear. Most of the above is caused by the sun exposure. Free radicals that appear on skin surface disrupt the natural chemical balance of the skin and promote cross linking of collagen. Ways to preserve the youthful look of your skin: Avoid sun and wear sunblock when going outside. Apply topical antioxidants - Vitamin C and E. They neutralize free radicals therefore protect healthy cell structures. Vitamin C - stimulates collagen production. Moisturize your skin and nourish it with essential fatty acids. Use products with alpha hydroxy acids to shed old skin cells and give the skin a fresh look.
